Associate accountant role overview
Associate accountant to support the day-to-day finance operations and reporting cycle across multiple group entities, including the HoldCo. The role bridges operational accounting and reporting deliverables, and the successful candidate will be comfortable owning reconciliations end-to-end, navigating intercompany transactions, and stepping in on ad-hoc finance tasks as the business requires. Transaction volumes are intentionally lean — the focus is on quality, control, and reliability rather than processing volume.
Key responsibilities
- Perform and review balance sheet reconciliations across multiple legal entities, including the HoldCo, ensuring discrepancies are investigated and cleared on a timely basis.
- Maintain accurate books of accounts and ensure transactions are correctly recorded in the ERP system in line with group accounting policies and IFRS.
- Manage intercompany accounting — including the booking, matching, and settlement of intercompany balances across entities.
- Support month-end and quarter-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and supporting schedules.
- Contribute to the consolidated reporting pack with accurate and well-supported entity-level inputs.
- Handle ad-hoc finance requests from management, including data extracts, variance commentary, and one-off analyses.
- Liaise with internal teams (treasury, FP&A, tax) and external auditors to provide timely, well-documented responses.
- Identify opportunities to streamline reconciliation and reporting workflows within the ERP environment.
Required qualifications & experience
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 8 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including exposure to a multi-entity group structure.
- Hands-on ERP experience is essential.
- Solid working knowledge of IFRS and standard month-end close practices.
- Proven ability to own reconciliations independently — including investigation and resolution of differences.
- Strong Excel skills (lookups, pivots, structured workbooks).
- Excellent attention to detail and a disciplined approach to controls and documentation.
Preferred / nice to have
- Oracle Fusion ERP experience.
- Prior exposure to a real estate, property development, or holding-company environment.
- Part-qualified or fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CA, CPA, CMA or equivalent).
- Experience working with HoldCo accounting and intercompany frameworks.
Candidate profile
- Self-driven, dependable, and comfortable working in a lean finance team.
- Pragmatic problem-solver who can shift between routine close work and ad-hoc requests without losing focus.
- Clear communicator with the confidence to engage stakeholders across the group.
- Available to be based in Abu Dhabi and to start within a short notice period.
