Role Description The Senior Accountant is a full-time, on-site role based in Cairo, Egypt, responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations and ensuring accurate, timely financial reporting. This role includes preparing and reviewing journal entries, maintaining the general ledger, and performing monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing activities. The Senior Accountant will manage accounts payable and receivable, reconcile bank and balance sheet accounts, and ensure proper documentation and filing of all financial records. Daily tasks also involve preparing financial statements and management reports, monitoring cash flow, and supporting budgeting and forecasting processes. The role will help ensure compliance with Egyptian accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal controls, as well as support internal and external audits. The Senior Accountant will collaborate with operations, purchasing, and sales teams to track costs, support inventory and fixed asset accounting, and provide analysis to improve profitability. This position reports to the Finance Manager or General Manager and may provide guidance to junior accounting staff.
Qualifications
Strong accounting and finance knowledge, including general ledger, financial statements, accruals, reconciliations, and month-end closing. Solid understanding of local tax laws and regulations in Egypt, including VAT and corporate income tax compliance. Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems, as well as strong Microsoft Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, reconciliations). Experience with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and cost control, ideally in a manufacturing, retail, or furniture-related environment. Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on accuracy and deadlines. Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and non-finance stakeholders. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA, or local equivalent) is an advantage.
