Senior Accountant – Luxury Jewellery Retail

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the financial operations of our luxury jewellery retail business while supporting the day-to-day operations of the showroom. The role requires strong expertise in accounting, inventory control, financial reporting, and retail operations within the gold, jewellery, or luxury retail sector.
Key Responsibilities
Manage all daily accounting operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, and financial transactions.
Maintain accurate accounting records for gold, jewellery, diamonds, precious stones, and luxury accessories.
Perform daily reconciliation of sales, cash, bank deposits, POS transactions, and inventory movements.
Monitor inventory valuation and ensure accurate reconciliation of inventory records.
Process supplier invoices, purchase orders, and payment schedules.
Coordinate with local and international suppliers regarding invoices, payments, and account reconciliations.
Prepare payroll, banking transactions, bank reconciliations, and periodic financial reports.
Ensure compliance with VAT regulations, accounting standards, company policies, and internal controls.
Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing activities.
Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
Conduct regular internal audits of financial records, cash handling procedures, and inventory transactions.
Maintain accurate financial records for vendors, customers, and business partners.
Oversee the financial and operational aspects of the jewellery showroom to ensure smooth day-to-day business operations.
Monitor daily sales performance and verify the accuracy of sales transactions, cash collections, and POS records.
Coordinate with the sales team to ensure proper documentation of customer orders, bespoke orders, and product deliveries.
Monitor inventory movements, stock transfers, stock counts, and inventory discrepancies while ensuring the accuracy of inventory records.
Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and luxury retail operating standards throughout the showroom.
Coordinate with Store Management to maintain product availability, inventory accuracy, and timely replenishment of fast-moving items.
Prepare operational and financial reports related to showroom performance, sales trends, inventory levels, and profitability.
Support periodic stock audits and annual inventory counts, ensuring accurate reconciliation of high-value assets including gold, jewellery, diamonds, and precious stones.
Work closely with Store Management, Sales, Procurement, Finance, and Executive Management to ensure operational excellence and business efficiency.
Support both internal and external auditors by providing all required financial records and documentation.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience.
Mandatory experience in the Gold, Jewellery, Precious Metals, or Luxury Retail industry.
Strong understanding of accounting principles, inventory accounting, financial reporting, and cost control.
Experience with ERP systems is required.
Knowledge of VAT regulations and multi-currency transactions.
Proven experience in inventory reconciliation and stock valuation within a retail environment.
Professional certifications such as CMA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent will be considered an added advantage.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
High level of integrity, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced luxury retail environment.
