Position Summary

ACT for Conflict Resolution is seeking a qualified, detail-oriented, and proactive Accountant to join its Finance team. The Accountant will be responsible for day-to-day accounting operations, budget monitoring, donor financial reporting, and compliance across ACT's multi-donor project portfolio, while providing responsive support to project staff and partners.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Financial Management & Accounting
  • Manage day-to-day accounting for ACT projects, including preparing payments , bookkeeping, filing, and maintenance of the main financial folder, ensuring timely closures.
  • Book expenses and maintain financial records using Bisan Financial Management Software.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for all bank accounts and follow up with banks on outstanding checks and discrepancies.
  • Track expenses by project, budget line, and activity, flagging any over-spending or under-spending.
  • Manage and follow up on the organization's tax file in line with Ministry of Finance (MoF) requirements.
  • Prepare and manage monthly payroll.
  • Update the inventory list as necessary.
  1. Budgeting & Financial Reporting
  • Support annual planning & Budgeting of ACT's budget in coordination with the team.
  • Prepare accurate and timely donor financial reports, ensuring full alignment with contract specifications and budget lines.
  • Maintain updated internal ledger reports for all projects on a quarterly basis.
  • Contribute to fiscal year-end financial statements and act as a focal point for the annual Financial audit & Projects Audit process.
  1. Compliance & Documentation
  • Review financial documentation of expenditures to ensure compliance with donor and organizational regulations, and prepare payments accordingly.
  • Regularly collect and organize documents related to ACT's expenses (invoices, travel reports, exchange rates, contracts, etc.), ensuring financial justification meets each donor's requirements.
  • Revise, organize, photocopy, scan, and stamp project documentation, maintaining an organized electronic archiving system in line with ACT's internal policies and procedures.
  • Follow up on all ongoing project contracts, tracking deadlines and cost modifications as needed.
  1. Support & Capacity Building
  • Support project staff on matters related to financial procedures and requirements, maintaining a proactive approach to follow-ups with supervisors.
  • Facilitate capacity-building for ACT partners by training their staff on the procedures required by ACT and its donors for adequate financial justification of projects.
  • Support colleagues' training and development to strengthen internal procedures and improve overall office functioning.
  • Keep the Finance and Compliance Manager and Branch Manager informed of any financial management issues

متطلبات الوظيفة

Qualifications and Requirements

  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 4+ years of relevant working experience in a similar role, preferably within the I/NGO sector.
  • Professional working proficiency in both English and Arabic (written and spoken).
  • Proven experience in preparing accurate and timely donor financial reports, ensuring full alignment with contract specifications and budget lines.
  • Good ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience working across multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting/financial software (mainly Bisan)
