Job Description –Trainee – Accounting

Job Title: Trainee – Accounting

Reporting To: Senior Accountant

Job Summary

We are looking for a motivated Assistant Trainee – Accounting to join our Accounting & Finance team. The ideal candidate will have qualified ACCA or be partially qualified in ACCA, with SBR (Strategic Business Reporting) already cleared.

This role is suitable for an accounting professional who has a strong understanding of IFRSand accounting principles and is looking to develop practical experience in accounting, VAT, reconciliations and financial reporting within a UAE business environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with senior accountants and gain practical exposure to the complete accounting cycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Recording of accounting transactions.
• Maintain accurate purchase, sales, expense and journal entries.
• Reconcile bank, cash, accounts payable, accounts receivable.
• Maintain proper accounting documentation and supporting records.
• Ensure transactions are recorded accurately and on a timely basis.
• Investigate discrepancies and outstanding transactions.
• Assist in VAT reconciliation and return preparation.
• Assist in preparation of monthly management accounts.
• Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Apply knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting principles in practical accounting situations.
• Perform other accounting and finance duties assigned by management.

Required Qualifications

Essential:

• ACCA Partially Qualified - Must have cleared SBR – Strategic Business Reporting.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and IFRS.
• Good knowledge of financial statements and accounting concepts.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related field is preferred.

Experience

• 0–2 years of accounting experience preferred.
• Fresh ACCA candidates who have cleared SBR and have strong accounting fundamentals may also be considered.
• UAE accounting experience will be an advantage.
• Practical knowledge of VAT and UAE Corporate Tax will be an added advantage.

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles
• Understanding and knowledge of accounting software such as Odoo, QuickBooks, Zoho Books, Xero or similar
• Basic understanding of UAE VAT
• Strong analytical and numerical skills.
• Good attention to detail.
• Strong understanding of accounting standards.
• Ability to identify accounting discrepancies.
• Willingness to learn and develop practical accounting skills.
• Good written and verbal communication.
• Ability to meet deadlines.
• High level of integrity and confidentiality.
• Ability to work independently as well as within a team.
