• Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

We are looking for an experienced Accountant to manage day-to-day accounting operations and support the finance team in producing accurate, timely financial information. The ideal candidate has 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience across the full accounting cycle — from recording transactions to month-end closing, reconciliations, tax filings and audit support — and works independently with strong attention to detail.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

General Accounting & Bookkeeping

▪        Record and review daily journal entries, ensuring transactions are properly supported, coded and approved.

▪        Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts in line with company policies and applicable accounting standards (IFRS or local GAAP).

▪        Process and review accruals, prepayments, provisions and fixed-asset additions, disposals and depreciation.

▪        Manage petty cash, employee advances and expense claims.

Accounts Payable & Receivable

▪        Review supplier invoices for purchase orders and goods-received notes before payment.

▪        Prepare payment schedules and supplier statements of account.

▪        Issue customer invoices, follow up on collections and prepare receivable ageing reports.

Reconciliations & Month-End Close

▪        Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and reconcile key balance-sheet accounts (customers, suppliers, inventory, VAT, payroll).

▪        Carry out month-end and year-end closing procedures within agreed deadlines.

▪        Support inventory counts and reconciles inventory records to the general ledger.

Financial Reporting

▪        Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements: income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statement.

▪        Prepare management reports and variance analysis comparing actual results to budget and prior periods.

▪        Assist in preparing the annual budget and periodic forecasts.

Tax & Compliance

▪        Prepare and file VAT, withholding tax, payroll tax and corporate income tax returns in line with local tax laws.

▪        Keep tax records and supporting documents organised and ready for inspection.

▪        Stay up to date with changes in tax regulations and electronic invoicing requirements.

Audit & Internal Controls

▪        Prepare audit schedules and supporting documents for external and internal auditors.

▪        Respond to auditor queries and follow up on agreed recommendations.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Education

▪ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce.

▪ Professional certification (CMA, CPA, ACCA or equivalent) is a strong plus, or currently working towards one.

Experience

▪ 3 to 5 years of accounting experience, ideally in a company or an audit firm.

▪ Proven experience with the full accounting cycle up to financial statements.

▪ Practical experience preparing tax returns and dealing with auditors.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

Technical Skills

▪ Solid knowledge of accounting principles and IFRS.

▪ Working knowledge of local tax regulations (VAT, withholding, payroll and corporate tax).

▪ Hands-on experience with an ERP or accounting system (e.g. SAP, Oracle, Odoo, Microsoft Dynamics, QuickBooks).

▪ Advanced Microsoft Excel: pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIFS and basic reporting.

▪ Good written and spoken English.
