Job Description

  • Collect cost information and maintain an expenses database
  • Construct data accumulation systems to track costs and financial data
  • Determine fixed costs (e.g. salaries, rent, and insurance)
  • Plan and record variable costs (e.g. purchases of raw materials and operations costs)
  • Review standard and actual costs for inaccuracies and variances
  • Prepare detailed budgeting reports (for the company and individual departments)
  • Analyze and report on profit margins to identify areas for improvement
  • Prepare cost forecasts on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
  • Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes
  • Identify and recommend cost-effective solutions for financial efficiency

Job Requirements

  • Proven work experience as a Cost Accountant, Cost Analyst, Accountant, or similar role
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting procedures and practices
  • In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Experience with accounting software, such as FreshBooks and Zoho
  • Strong computer literacy, particularly in MS Excel (familiarity with VLOOKUPs and pivot tables)
  • Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks
  • High level of integrity, with the ability to handle confidential information responsibly
  • BSc degree in Accounting, Finance, or a relevant field of study
