  • Collect cost information and maintain an expenses database
  • Construct data accumulation systems to track costs and financial data
  • Determine fixed costs (e.g. salaries, rent, and insurance)
  • Plan and record variable costs (e.g. purchases of raw materials and operations costs)
  • Review standard and actual costs for inaccuracies and variances
  • Prepare detailed budgeting reports (for the company and individual departments)
  • Analyze and report on profit margins to identify areas for improvement
  • Prepare cost forecasts on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
  • Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes
  • Identify and recommend cost-effective solutions for financial efficiency

Proven work experience as a Cost Accountant, Cost Analyst, Accountant, or similar roleThorough knowledge of accounting procedures and practicesIn-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Experience with accounting software, such as FreshBooks and ZohoStrong computer literacy, particularly in MS Excel (familiarity with VLOOKUPs and pivot tables)Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detailStrong time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasksHigh level of integrity, with the ability to handle confidential information responsiblyBSc degree in Accounting, Finance, or a relevant field of study
