Job Description

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) to join our finance team at [MRI], a leading chemical manufacturing company. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the financial management of our operations, providing strategic insights, and supporting the company's growth through effective financial planning, analysis, and reporting. This role requires expertise in cost accounting, budgeting, financial forecasting, and internal controls within a chemical manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Planning and Analysis:
    • Develop financial forecasts, budgets, and long-term strategic plans tailored to the chemical production processes.
    • Analyze financial performance of manufacturing units, identifying areas for improvement in cost efficiency and operational productivity.
    • Provide regular financial reports to the management team, including variance analysis between actual and budgeted figures.
  2. Cost Accounting and Cost Control:
    • Monitor and manage the costing process for raw materials, chemicals, labor, and production overheads.
    • Perform detailed cost analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities in the production and supply chain processes.
    • Ensure proper allocation of costs for different production lines and maintain accurate inventory costing.
  3. Budgeting and Financial Reporting:
    • Assist in the creation of annual budgets and financial forecasts for the chemical manufacturing division.
    • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports on manufacturing costs, product profitability, and capital expenditures.
    • Support management with financial insights into the impact of market fluctuations (e.g., raw material prices) on financial performance.
  4. Internal Controls and Compliance:
    • Implement and monitor internal controls to ensure the accuracy of financial reporting and safeguard company assets.
    • Ensure compliance with financial regulations specific to the chemical industry, such as environmental laws, tax codes, and industry standards.
    • Ensure adherence to accounting standards, including GAAP or IFRS, for accurate financial reporting.
  5. Inventory Management and Production Efficiency:
    • Collaborate with supply chain and production teams to ensure accurate inventory valuation and effective material usage.
    • Provide financial analysis to optimize the balance between raw material purchasing and production demands.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  1. Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation is required.
  2. Educational Requirements:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
    • Master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a similar discipline is a plus.
  3. Experience:
    • Minimum of [3] years of experience in accounting or financial management, ideally within a manufacturing or industrial environment. Prior experience in the chemical industry is highly preferred.
    • Experience in cost accountingbudgeting, and financial reporting in a manufacturing setting, especially chemical production, is a key advantage.
  4. Knowledge and Skills:
    • Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, particularly for manufacturing and chemical production processes.
    • Proficiency in using ERP systems (e.g., TALLY , SAPOracle, etc.) and financial software.
    • Familiarity with financial reporting standards 
    • Understanding of inventory management and its financial implications in a manufacturing environment.
  5. Analytical Skills:
    • Strong ability to analyze complex financial data and identify trends, risks, and opportunities in the business.
    • Ability to prepare financial forecastsbudgets, and financial models tailored to manufacturing operations.
  6. Communication Skills:
    • Excellent communication skills to explain financial concepts to non-financial managers and stakeholders.
    • Ability to prepare and present clear financial reports to senior management.
  7. Problem-Solving Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving abilities to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve operational efficiency.
  8. Attention to Detail:
    • High attention to detail to ensure accuracy in financial records and reporting.
  9. Leadership (Optional):
    • Experience in leading or mentoring teams of accountants or finance professionals is a plus, especially in a manufacturing setting.
