Job Title: Restaurant Accountant

Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Restaurant Accountant to manage the financial operations of our busy restaurant. The ideal candidate will oversee daily financial transactions, monitor expenses, ensure accurate bookkeeping, and support the financial health of the establishment. This role requires a strong understanding of restaurant operations combined with accounting expertise to ensure smooth financial management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Daily Financial Transactions: Record and reconcile daily sales, cash, credit card, and other payment transactions accurately.
• Accounts Payable & Receivable: Manage vendor invoices, process payments promptly, and follow up on outstanding receivables.
• Payroll Support: Assist in processing staff payroll, ensuring correct hours, tips, and deductions are accounted for.
• Cash Handling & Reconciliation: Monitor cash registers, ensure proper cash handling procedures, and reconcile cash drawers at shift end.
• Inventory & Cost Control: Track inventory purchases and usage, analyse food and beverage costs, and assist in controlling waste and theft.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports, including sales summaries, expense reports, and cash flow statements.
• Budget Monitoring: Assist in maintaining budgets, monitoring variances, and providing management insights.
• Compliance & Record Keeping: Ensure compliance with tax regulations, employment laws, and internal policies. Maintain organised financial records.
• Support Audits: Prepare documentation and support during internal and external audits.
• Collaborate with Management: Provide financial insights and support decision-making processes related to pricing, promotions, and operational improvements.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as an Accountant, preferably within the hospitality or restaurant industry.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
• Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office Suite.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills and team-oriented attitude.

Working Conditions:

• Fast-paced restaurant environment with occasional extended hours.
• Primarily office-based with some on-site responsibilities during closing or audits.
