The Senior Accountant position in the construction and building industry is a pivotal role that requires a blend of technical accounting expertise and industry-specific knowledge. This role is designed for a detail-oriented professional who can manage financial records, ensure compliance with regulations, and provide insightful financial analysis to support strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles, experience in the construction sector, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.

Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements and reports in compliance with local regulations.
  2. Oversee the accounts payable and receivable processes to ensure timely and accurate transactions.
  3. Conduct monthly reconciliations of bank statements and general ledger accounts.
  4. Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, providing insights into financial performance.
  5. Monitor project costs and ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.
  6. Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  7. Coordinate with external auditors during the annual audit process.
  8. Provide financial analysis and recommendations to management for strategic planning.
  9. Stay updated on changes in accounting regulations and industry standards.

  1. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  2. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  3. Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  4. Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in work.
  5. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  6. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  7. Team player with a collaborative mindset.
  8. Experience in the construction industry is highly desirable.
  9. Professional certification such as CPA or ACCA is preferred.
  10. Willingness to continuously learn and adapt to new accounting practices.

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and IFRS standards.
  • Advanced Excel skills for financial modelling and analysis.
