Financial Controller Job Description

Position: Financial Controller

Location: Dubai

Reports to: CFO/Finance Director

Experience Required: 5+ years in accounting/finance, including trial balance preparation

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Trial Balance Oversight

Prepare and review monthly trial balances, ensuring accuracy and compliance with US GAAP/IFRS standards.

Lead the month-end/year-end close process, including reconciliation of all general ledger accounts and resolution of discrepancies.

Generate financial statements (P&L, balance sheets, cash flow) from trial balance data, providing actionable insights to senior management.

Accounting Operations

Supervise accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and treasury functions, ensuring timely recording in the general ledger.

Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard financial data integrity 216.

Compliance & Audits

Act as the primary liaison for external audits, providing trial balance documentation and addressing audit findings .

Ensure compliance with tax filings, VAT, and statutory reporting across jurisdictions.

Process Improvement

Identify inefficiencies in the trial balance preparation process and recommend automation/ERP solutions.

Streamline month-end timelines by optimizing workflows and reducing manual journal entries.

Requirements & Skills

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance; CPA/CMA preferred 211.

Experience:

5+ years in accounting, with hands-on trial balance preparation and financial reporting 1016.

Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP) and advanced Excel 69.

Soft Skills: Analytical mindset, attention to detail, and ability to communicate complex financial data 1116.

Nice-to-Have

Experience in manufacturing/construction sectors (for project-based accounting)
