Job Description

Chief Accountant

Join our finance team and lead our accounting function. As Chief Accountant, you will oversee all accounting operations, ensure compliance with corporate and regulatory standards, and provide insight to drive business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow).
• Conduct cost and profitability analysis, including variance analysis by product, customer segment, and SKU.
• Manage the chart of accounts and cost centers; review and approve daily transactions in our ERP (JD Edwards)
• Upload monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports on SAP based on our global partners Dutch standards.
• Participate in CAPEX reporting and analyze cash‑flow statements 
• Provide insights into loan and interest expenses and support investment decisions.
• Oversee general‑ledger reconciliations and month‑/year‑end closings; post accruals and allocate shared expenses for all our factories.
• Maintain and enforce accounting policies and internal controls.
• Prepare and file all tax returns (income tax, payroll tax, stamp tax, withholding tax, VAT) and liaise with tax authorities.
• Work closely with the Finance Manager on budgeting and forecasting, cash-flow planning, audit preparations, compliance reviews, and developing financial strategies.
• Lead and train the accounting team; implement process improvements and support new projects and capex reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or similar certification is an advantage.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or chief accountant role, ideally in manufacturing or agriculture.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS/IAS (or local equivalents) and tax regulations.
• Proficiency in ERP systems (JD Edwards, SAP) and advanced Excel skills.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills; high integrity and attention to detail.

Job Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Proven expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, and analysis.
• Strong knowledge of local and international accounting standards (e.g., IFRS, GAAP).
• Demonstrated experience in managing audits and ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• High attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Fluency in English; proficiency in Arabic is an advantage.
