Overview Of The Role:

The Senior Tax Accountant plays a crucial role in supporting the Al-Futtaim Group's tax operations. This position involves preparing direct and indirect tax returns and ensuring compliance with tax regulations in various regions. The role requires collaboration with Group Tax and other departments, providing high-level support in tax audits and resolving system issues. Success in this role is defined by the timely and accurate submission of tax returns, effective document management, and a proactive approach to streamlining tax processes through automation. The individual should demonstrate strong analytical skills and the ability to work under pressure while maintaining effective communication with stakeholders.

What You Will Do:

Tax Management

  • Prepare monthly VAT and WHT returns for different regions and process submissions to governing bodies.
  • Maintain regulatory compliance and update the monthly calendar and tracker to ensure timely filing of all Tax Returns based on country-specific tax calendars.
  • Review complex income Tax Returns.
  • Support tax provision tracking and maintain tax balances on the general ledger.

Document Management

  • Ensure all documents are collected in a central database and handle requests for information.
  • Provide coordination support during tax audits to the Tax Manager.

System and Process Management

  • Provide active support in resolving VAT system issues in coordination with IT and the Assistant Financial Controller.
  • Support streamlining processes through automation initiatives.
  • Prepare ad hoc requests as per management request.

Collaboration and Development

  • Liaise with managers and stakeholders to ensure collaboration and understanding on critical topics.
  • Contribute to the improvement of solutions and business processes.
  • Maintain and upgrade professional knowledge, management skills, and domain expertise through continuous learning and development.
  • Foster team development and enhance product application skills.
  • Maintain an excellent rapport with the business.

  • Analysis and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.

What Qualifies You For The Role:

  • Bachelor's degree in Tax or Finance.
  • 3-5 years of GCC Tax Experience, 1-2 years in an international finance environment.
  • Fluency in English (written and verbal).
  • Knowledge of SAP and proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
