Job Description
- Financial Reporting & Analysis:
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Conduct variance analysis and provide explanations for significant deviations from budget or previous periods.
- Generate various financial reports for internal management and external stakeholders (e.g., regulatory bodies, auditors).
- Assist in financial forecasting, budgeting, and cost analysis processes.
- General Ledger Management & Reconciliations:
- Maintain the general ledger, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded and posted.
- Perform complex account reconciliations (e.g., bank accounts, intercompany accounts, fixed assets, accruals, prepayments) on a timely basis.
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring proper cash flow management.
- Month-End and Year-End Close:
- Lead and execute critical steps in the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
- Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring all necessary adjustments are made.
- Ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met consistently.
- Internal Controls & Compliance:
- Develop, implement, and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial data.
- Ensure compliance with local Egyptian tax laws (e.g., VAT, corporate tax, withholding tax) and other relevant financial regulations.
- Participate in the documentation and improvement of accounting policies and procedures.
- Audit & Tax Support:
- Coordinate and assist with the external audits by preparing audit schedules, providing necessary documentation, and responding to auditor inquiries.
- Support the preparation and filing of tax returns and other statutory reports.
- Ad-hoc Projects:
- Undertake special financial projects and analysis as required by management.
Job Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (Faculty of Commerce), English Section is a MUST.
- Relevant professional certification (e.g., CMA, CPA, ESAA in Egypt) is highly preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in accounting roles, with at least 2 years in a Senior Accountant or similar capacity.
- Experience with Egyptian Accounting Standards (EAS) and local tax regulations is preferred.
- Experience working in a similar industry (e.g., education, private sector) is a plus.
Skills & Competencies:
- Technical Accounting Expertise: In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal control best practices.
- Financial Analysis: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
- Software Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, financial modeling) and hands-on experience with accounting software/ERP systems.
- Attention to Detail & Accuracy: Meticulous approach to financial record-keeping and reporting.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Arabic (native-level) and English (professional proficiency) to effectively convey complex financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
