Senior Accountant

Senior Accountant

Department: Finance

Location: [Cairo, Egypt]

Reports to: Finance Manager

Purpose of the Role

To ensure accurate and timely execution of accounting tasks, compliance with internal and external regulations, and support for financial reporting, tax, and audit processes. The Senior Accountant plays a key role in maintaining financial integrity and supporting the Finance Manager in daily operations.

Key Responsibilities

General Ledger & Closing Activities

Prepare and post journal entries for accruals, provisions, and adjustments.

Manage monthly and year-end closing procedures in line with IMCD Group timelines.

Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts and sub-ledgers.

Accounts Payable & Receivable Support

Monitor vendor invoices, payment runs, and AP aging.

Assist in customer reconciliations, collections, and AR monitoring.

Support Customer Service and Commercial teams in resolving billing or collection issues.

Banking & Treasury Support

Process and record daily bank transactions and reconciliations.

Assist with cash flow monitoring and monthly cash forecasting.

Liaise with banks for documentation or issue resolution.

Tax & Compliance

Prepare and file VAT, withholding tax, and other local tax declarations.

Support internal and external audit requests.

Ensure compliance with local accounting standards and IMCD internal controls.

Reporting & Analysis

Assist in preparation of financial reports and schedules for management and HQ.

Perform variance and trend analysis when required.

Support in budgeting and forecasting processes.

Key Competencies and Skills

Strong knowledge of local accounting standards and IFRS

Accuracy, reliability, and attention to detail

Good working knowledge of ERP systems (SAP preferred)

Proficiency in Excel and financial reporting tools

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CMA/CPA is a plus)

4-6 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a multinational or distribution company

Experience with tax filing and statutory reporting in Egypt

Familiarity with internal controls and audit processes
