الوصف:
The National Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the National Finance & Controlling Manager in ensuring accurate financial accounting, compliance with local legislation, and adherence to SOS Children’s Villages standards.
The National Senior Accountant is responsible for:
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date accounting records for the National Office and assigned locations/facilities
- Ensuring compliance with local tax laws and statutory requirements, including preparation and submission of VAT declarations.
- Supporting the preparation of financial statements and management reports
- Ensuring proper implementation of internal controls and financial procedures
- Supporting budgeting, reporting, and audit processes
- Providing guidance and technical support to accountants within locations/facilities

Key performance areas and main responsibilities:
Budgeting and Budget Control
- Supports preparation of the National Office budget proposal
- Assists in consolidating Member Association budgets
- Monitors budget implementation and prepares budget variance analysis
Accounting and Internal Control
- Maintains the National Office accounting records in line with local legislation and SOS Children’s Villages standards
- Ensures proper application of the chart of accounts and accounting policies
- Verifies completeness and accuracy of accounting entries and supporting documentation
- Reconciles bank accounts, cash accounts, payroll accounts, and balance sheet accounts on a regular basis
- Ensures proper documentation and filing of accounting records
- Supports the development and implementation of accounting policies, financial procedures, and internal control guidelines
- Assists in conducting internal audits in Member Association facilities, as requested
Taxation and Statutory Compliance
- Prepares and submits required tax declarations in compliance with local tax laws (e.g. VAT, withholding tax, etc.)
- Ensures compliance with all statutory reporting requirements and deadlines
- Liaises with tax authorities and other governmental institutions when required
- Monitors changes in tax egislation and ensures proper implementation
Reporting
- Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for the National Office
- Supports the preparation of consolidated financial reports for the Member Association
- Prepares financial reports related to projects, according to SOS Children’s Villages standards and/or donor requirements
- Provides financial information to management and other stakeholders as requested
Funds Management
- Monitors cash flow and ensures sufficient liquidity for operational needs
- Follows up on receivables and payables to ensure timely settlements
External Audit
- Assists in the preparation of annual Financial Statements
- Prepares audit schedules and supporting documentation
- Coordinates with auditors and provides requested information
- Reviews draft audit findings and supports implementation of audit recommendations
Child & Adult, Funds and Asset Safeguarding
- Complies with the Code of Conduct, Child and Youth Safeguarding Regulation and Policy, Misconduct Incident Management Regulation; The Sexual Misconduct Regulation (Prevention and protection against sexual harassment, exploitation and abuse, PSHEA), and Anti-Corruption Regulation, and follows all reporting and responding procedures.
- Raises awareness within own area of responsibility of child & adult safeguarding principles and contributes to preventing abuse, abandonment, exploitation, violence, and discrimination.
- Ensures safeguarding of funds and assets by maintaining the highest standards of integrity, ethical conduct, and professionalism.
- Supports programmes/projects in preventing and mitigating safeguarding risks and in responding to incidents when required.
- Reports immediately any child & adult, funds & asset safeguarding suspicion, concern, allegation, or incident in line with the Misconduct Incident Management Regulation.
This position involves working with an NGO committed to children and human rights and is subject to strict safer recruitment checks. The successful candidate will be required to complete safer recruitment checks including criminal record and reference checks to help verify their suitability to work for SOS Children’s Villages. In addition to assessing candidates' ability to perform the duties of the post, in the selection process will be also explored the motivation and approach of the candidate to safeguarding.
Must criteria
- Degree in the field of Finance and/or Accounting
- Minimum 3-5 years working experience as a senior accountant and/ or in the field of finance
- Very good knowledge of local accounting law and tax regulations
Competencies – knowledge, skills, abilities
- Excellent MS Office skills, MS Excel in particular
- Good communication skills
- Organisational skills
- Social competences and ability for team work
- Knowledge of planning – budgeting - controlling process
Preferred additional criteria
- Knowledge of/ experience in using Dynamics software
- Work experience in international organisations, preferably in the NGO sector
Working hours: Monday to Friday (8:00 AM till 4:30 PM)
