Job Summary
The Senior General Accountant will be responsible for overseeing core financial accounting operations, ensuring the integrity of the general ledger, and delivering accurate financial reporting in accordance with IFRS and local regulatory requirements. The role will support strong internal controls, statutory compliance, and audit readiness while maintaining accurate financial records for the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the General Ledger, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and proper classification of financial transactions.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS and company accounting policies.
- Lead month-end and year-end closing activities, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Perform reconciliations of bank accounts, intercompany balances, accruals, fixed assets and key balance sheet accounts, ensuring discrepancies are investigated and resolved.
- Review journal entries and supporting documentation to ensure compliance with accounting standards.
- Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting schedules for financial reporting purposes.
- Support ERP implementation or enhancement initiatives for the GL module.
- Ensure compliance with Saudi VAT regulations and reporting requirements issued by Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority.
- Monitor adherence to local statutory regulations and financial compliance requirements in Saudi Arabia.
- Support the preparation of documentation required for statutory filings and regulatory reporting.
- Participating in Zakat and VAT audits ensures regulatory compliance
- Assist in internal and external audit processes, including preparation of schedules, reconciliations, and audit supporting documents.
Skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Professional certification such as CMA, ACCA, CPA, IFRS or SOCPA is preferred.
- 5–10 years of accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing or industrial companies.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and Saudi regulatory compliance requirements.
Required Skills
- Strong expertise in general ledger management and financial reporting.
- Solid understanding of financial statement preparation and closing procedures.
- Knowledge of VAT compliance and regulatory reporting in Saudi Arabia.
- Experience supporting internal and external audits.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and ERP system experience (Oddo preferred).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to meet reporting deadlines.
