Job Description

Accountant – Cost & Inventory
(Agriculture / Farming Sector) 

• The Cost & Inventory Accountant is responsible for managing and analyzing all cost-related activities within the farming and agriculture operations. 
• This role ensures accurate tracking of inventory, proper allocation of costs, and preparation of cost reports to support management decisions. 
• The position plays a key role in monitoring farm inputs, crop production costs, and inventory movement to maintain financial accuracy and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities: 

Cost Accounting

• Track and record all production costs.
• Analyze daily production activities and ensure accurate cost allocation.
• Prepare standard cost calculations and update them regularly based on market price changes.
• Identify cost variances and provide explanations to management.
• Support budgeting and forecasting related to production and farm operations.

Inventory Management

• Monitor raw materials and finished goods inventory.
• Ensure accurate and timely posting of inventory transactions in the ERP system.
• Conduct regular physical inventory counts and reconcile any discrepancies.
• Maintain stock control procedures to prevent losses, waste, and errors.
• Track inventory aging, expiration, and waste (especially perishable agricultural items).

Reporting & Analysis

• Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly cost and inventory reports.
• Develop cost analysis tools to support decision-making.
• Provide insights on cost-saving opportunities in farming operations.
• Support internal and external audits with all required documents.

Compliance & Process Control

• Ensure compliance with internal policies and accounting standards.
• Maintain accurate documentation and support the finance team with closing activities.
• Coordinate with procurement, production, and warehouse teams to ensure seamless data flow.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3–7 years of experience in cost accounting and inventory management.
• Experience in the agriculture, farming, or food production sector is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Odoo, etc.).
• Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
• Knowledge of agricultural inputs, crop cycles, and production processes is a plus.
• Proficiency in MS Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, Reporting).
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
