Finance Manager

JOB PURPOSE
BAE Systems is the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and train RSAF and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their aircraft, equipment and weapons.

The finance function who delivers the Tornado Support Service (TSS) programme are seeking a proactive Finance Manager to be an integral part of the delivery and finance team. This role is pivotal in ensuring robust financial management, insightful reporting, effective communication across a wide array of stakeholders, and the development of a team.
You will deliver reviews of revenue, cost and cashflow of the TSS projects, drive improved performance, and provide sound financial support and advice to both the TSS Programme Leadership and within the TSS Finance Function.
You will maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders whilst evaluating processes to ensure that robust, relevant and adequate financial controls are in place. In addition, you will manage, train and develop a keen and dynamic team to drive both personal development and project performance within the function.
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
The Finance Manager will be accountable and responsible for the following:
Project Delivery:
The management of finance reporting cycles including CSR (Contract Status Report) and SSR (Summary Status Report).
Supporting project managers with budgets, forecasting and variance analysis, ensuring delivery to plan and joined up project narratives and slides required for review packs.
Review and challenge costs, accruals, and provisions, ensuring financial accuracy and transparency.
Attending relevant project meetings, ensuring reliable financial information is used, all financial impacts are assessed and providing healthy challenge were required.
Taking responsibility for trading plans, estimates to complete, supporting the decision-making process to ensure financial targets are optimised.
Ensuring the project invoicing process is enacted correctly each period and instil a cash awareness culture to optimise working capital.
Ensuring accurate and timely recording of all project revenue and costs by your team.
Identify and drive process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy and business insight.
Financial Reporting & Insight:
Provide monthly/quarterly financial insight and reports, highlighting key risks, opportunities and corrective actions.
Supporting IBP by generating key financial assumptions, reviewing programme performance, constructively challenging the business and making recommendations to course-correct, driving improvement from current position
Work closely with the wider finance team to ensure consistency of reporting and alignment with group policies on a monthly and quarterly basis.
Support month-end and year-end activities and audits where required.
Supporting the Head of Finance where required.
Stakeholders:
Retain and develop your direct reports to ensure responsibilities are discharged in a professional manner with an emphasis on supporting and promoting financial advice, training and development with your team.
Provide financial advice and support to project delivery team members.
Build strong relationships within the delivery teams and the functional support teams, across Dhahran, Riyadh and the UK.
Governance:
Ensuring that each Project operates an appropriate and effective set of financial controls and ensure the overall integrity of the accounts (including CSR’s, IBP, reporting etc.) always adhering to the Financial Policies Manual.
Supervise, maintain and operate financial systems and processes in accordance with the latest internal and external standards.
RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION
Essential
Degree of Accounting Bachelor, or an active membership of SOCPA and prefer to be qualified accountant (CIMA / CMA / SOCPA).
Extensive experience in accounting.
Strong technical accounting knowledge, with experience in financial accounting, financial planning and reporting and management accounting.
Strong understanding of CSR’s, LCM, Operational Framework & the Finance Policies Manual.
Ability to interpret detailed Financial Information.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret financial data.
High attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and continuous improvement.
Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g. SAP or similar) and strong excel capability.
Effective communicator who can simplify financial information and influence non-finance stakeholders.
A collaborative team player who builds strong relationships across the team.
Strong management skills, including the allocation of work, learning and development, timelines, budget, and recruiting, to drive strong performance of a team.
Strong leadership and influencing skills, with experience guiding multifunctional teams and effectively engaging stakeholders
Solid understanding of Financial Business Partnering (FBP) activities, underpinned by strong business acumen and stakeholder communication skills.
Innovative think who can “think outside the box” to find practical solutions and improve processes.
