  1. Required qualifications, competences, and experience

 

Qualifications

  • Master in accounting , or Business Administration, or a related field.

 

Professional experience

  • 5 to 7 years of professional experience in finance or accounting/bookkeeping
  • administration and accountancy work experience in development cooperation and similar organization
  • in-depth understanding of financial planning, accounting and projects
  • Knowledge of GIZ processes and rules
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to organize daily workload by priorities
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving with attention to details and ability to multi- task
  • Must be able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced quickly changing environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

 

Other knowledge, additional competences

  • in-depth knowledge of accounting software, preferrable S/4HANA
  • in-depth knowledge in electronic banking system
  • Technical digital knowledge in Office 365, including OneDrive, MS Teams and SharePoint.  
  • Basic knowledge of the EU GDPR and general understanding of Information Security. 
  • Arabic Native Speaker, Very good knowledge of English (C1); knowledge of German is an asset.

  1. Responsibilities

The position holder is responsible for:

  • ensuring that financial administration and accounting functions well in accordance with GIZ standard procedures
  • handling bookkeeping and journals accounting tasks in SAP S4 Hana software for all projects and GIZ country office as per GIZ rules and regulations
  • handling the yearly income tax on services for the projects as per GIZ procedures in place
  • effectively coordinating with the staff of the finance team at GIZ Head Office (monthly bookkeeping journals)
  • performing tasks in compliance with GIZ’s Processes and Rules (P+R)

 

  1. Finance & Accounting

The position holder

  • checking the plausibility of vouchers and categorizing of vouchers according to the internal bookkeeping charts of accounts
  • Independently handling the bookkeeping for projects and country office
  • monitors assigned real accounts (payables, receivables) and flags inconsistencies to the Head of Finance and Controlling
  • verifying vouchers and posting them in SAP S/4HANA
  • checks the vouchers and receipts for completeness and allocation to cost units and categories, and ask for correction where necessary
  • carries out accounting tasks using SAP S/4HANA accounting software and prepares monthly end-of-period accounts and bank reconciliation vouchers
  • processes the annual List of balances/Balance reports for all GIZ Office Journals in line with HQ accounting requirements
  • handling the yearly income tax calculation for each journal
  • Posting advances/salaries –NMA wage posting
  • Enter, post, change, correct incoming invoices with purchase order reference -with VIM
  • Enter, post, change and correct incoming invoices without purchase order reference -with VIM
  • Advance payments, instalments, residual items -with and without VIM
  • Check and enter incoming invoices/credit notes
  • Change, correct, reverse and rebook document
  • Rebooking of supplier invoices / documents / rebooking of open items
  • Make recurring postings via VIM
  • Evaluate input tax and post/settle withholding tax liabilities
  • Create and expand reports (open accounts payable items, totals and balance lists
  • Cash purchase and accounts payable posting to HQ clearing account

  1. Other duties/additional tasks

The position holder

  • regularly checks the changes in GIZ PuR in relation to  field of work
  • performs other relevant duties and tasks at the request of direct superior
  • filling CATS (Cross-Application Time Sheet )on daily basis
  • invoice check for regional contracts, when needed, limited to accounting compliance and posting requirements
  • invoice check for GIZ Office when needed
