Position: Senior Accountant

Duty Station: West Bank – primarily Ramallah
Contract Duration: One year, renewable based on performance and availability of funding. The first three months will be considered a probation period, in accordance with Palestinian Labor Law.

Working Hours: Part-time: 28 hours per month (flexible schedule)

About Us:

Bihimitkom Association is the first youth-led organization in Palestine dedicated to issues and rights of youth with disabilities. Bihimitkom aims to provide a safe environment and a platform for youth to express their hopes and aspirations and to strengthen their role in society. It also contributes to advancing the disability sector by utilizing social media and developing innovative approaches to represent youth with disabilities within Palestinian society.

The association seeks to recruit a highly experienced and qualified Senior Accountant to manage the financial operations of a development project aimed at enhancing youth participation, including youth with disabilities, in social and economic life within Palestinian society.

 

Key Responsibilities of the Senior Accountant:

  1. Prepare and manage the annual budgets and monitor expenditures in line with approved plans.
  2. Record daily financial transactions and maintain accurate accounting entries.
  3. Prepare periodic financial reports (monthly, quarterly, and annual) for donors and management.
  4. Monitor and manage cash flow.
  5. Manage bank accounts and execute payments and transfers.
  6. Prepare and review periodic bank reconciliations and ensure alignment between bank balances and accounting records.
  7. Calculate and remit taxes in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
  8. Review invoices and financial claims prior to payment.
  9. Follow up on contracts and financial commitments and ensure compliance.
  10. Ensure adherence to internal financial systems and donor policies.
  11. Coordinate with external auditors and facilitate financial audit processes.
  12. Prepare financial reports for funded projects in accordance with donor requirements.
  13. Maintain and organize financial files and records in a secure and systematic manner.
  14. Provide financial and administrative recommendations to management.
  15. Participate in meetings, workshops, and trainings with donors and partners to ensure smooth workflow.
  16. Manage and supervise the institution’s finance team.
  17. Develop and improve internal work processes and policies to ensure optimal implementation.

 متطلبات الوظيفة

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • A minimum of five years of practical experience in financial or accounting work within non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
  • Solid knowledge of applicable accounting systems and standards.
  • Proven experience in preparing financial reports and budgets.
  • Ability to prepare bank reconciliations accurately and on a regular basis.
  • Knowledge of financial control and internal control procedures.
  • Experience working with Bisan accounting software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant office applications.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and communicate efficiently with management and various departments.
  • Strong commitment to professional ethics and strict confidentiality of financial information.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
